The lower level home theater system includes all in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, including the subwoofers. The receiver, DVD player and cable box are hidden in cabinetry below the 61” plasma, and are controlled with a single, simple handheld remote. This system can also view, control and play the Request music server, located in another part of the house.
The sun room theater system presented a particular challenge to system design and installation. This octagonal room has no walls to speak of, with an entrance, a fireplace, or floor-to-ceiling windows on all six sides. The four front and rear speakers were located in the ceiling in the four corners of the room. In-floor subwoofers were mounted in the crawl space below and vented up through heat vents that matched the hardwoof floors perfectly. The plasma and surround system components were located in cabinetry to the right of the fireplace. The plasma monitor was mounted on an articulating arm bracket, allowing the homeowners to swing the monitor out and angle it across the room for big parties and sporting events.
